Spring is often seen as the season of new beginnings. In the year 2020, Spring is also a season in which we are creating history. These are unprecedented times, and each one of us are living out the stories that will be told many years from now. So let's create a "visual time capsule" and chronicle these extraordinary times to share with future generations.
Grab a sketchbook, a piece of scrap paper, or give an old book a make-over and share a bit about what it's like to live through a pandemic, how you're spending your time, and how you're feeling. Sketch, draw, write, collage or take photos, but be sure to dedicate some time each day. Even if you're working on the front lines and have just two minutes, doodle on a napkin or jot down a word for the day. This is about sharing your unique perspective and representing what is true for you - it's not about creating a masterpiece.
Whether you do this exercise with family, friends, or own your own, we invite you to create a page per day for the next 30 days. Engaging in this type of daily art practice can bring a sense of peace and calm while also providing inspiration and a unique way for self expression.
We encourage you to share your visual stories by snapping photos of your pages and posting them on Facebook, Instagram or both. Use the hashtag #VernonVoices and #OKCreate in your post and be sure to tag us too! If you're not on social media, you feel free to email us here.
Every Vernon voice is important so join the conversation, invite your friends and family to do the same, and let's create history together, while apART.
